The Cambridge Curriculum

The concept of a 'Cambridge learner' encompasses the attributes that we consider crucial for learners in today's world. We understand that a comprehensive curriculum goes beyond merely teaching subjects. In order to thrive, learners must cultivate a range of academic skills, life skills, and attitudes. Cambridge learners are self-assured when it comes to working with information and concepts/ideas, whether they are their own or those of others. They take responsibility for their own actions, display responsiveness and respect towards others. Furthermore, they approach learning with a reflective mindset, constantly developing their ability to acquire knowledge. Cambridge learners are also innovative, equipped with the tools necessary to tackle future challenges. Finally, they are intellectually and socially engaged, always ready to make a positive impact on the world around them.

Cambridge learners are:

Confident in working with information and concepts / ideas – their own and those of others

Responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others

Reflective as learners, developing their ability to learn

Innovative and equipped for new and future challenges

Engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference

Cambridge Primary is the beginning of an exhilarating educational journey, outlining the knowledge and skills learners should acquire at every stage of their primary education. If you wish to dive deeper into the details, this guide will lead you to additional sources of information.

A broad and balanced programme

The Cambridge Primary programme is designed to develop skills and understanding in a variety of subjects, such as English, mathematics, and science. Its purpose is to assist educators in delivering a comprehensive and well-rounded curriculum that is tailored to the specific context, culture, and ethos of their schools. We strongly believe that education is most impactful when all aspects, including curriculum, teaching methods, and assessment, are closely aligned. In order to facilitate effective teaching and learning, it is crucial to establish coherence between the curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment. This principle has been at the core of the design of Cambridge Primary, ensuring that students receive a cohesive and comprehensive educational experience.

Curriculum

The learning objectives in the Cambridge Primary Curriculum Frameworks provide a clear definition of the content that needs to be taught and learned. These objectives allow for customization according to the needs of individual learners, enabling teachers to tailor the content to their students' specific requirements. Additionally, the curriculum is flexible, allowing it to be integrated seamlessly with local and national curricula. This flexibility ensures that teachers have the freedom to teach as many or as few subjects as they deem suitable for their students' educational journey. By adhering to these objectives, educators can provide a well-rounded education that meets the diverse needs of their students, promoting academic growth and development.

Pedagogy

Our programme is designed to provide comprehensive support for each subject, offering a wide array of excellent teaching and learning resources. These resources are carefully selected to align directly with the learning objectives outlined in the curriculum frameworks. We believe in ensuring that all aspects of our programme work together seamlessly, so our assessments also reflect these objectives. By doing so, we create a coherent and well-rounded educational experience for our students. Our commitment to maintaining high-quality resources and assessments contributes to the success and effectiveness of our programme. With our extensive range of teaching materials and purposeful assessments, students can confidently engage with the curriculum and achieve their academic goals.

Assessments

We offer a range of optional assessments to help you prove and improve learning. Our Cambridge baseline and diagnostic assessments are designed to measure and benchmark learners' potential. For tracking progress, we recommend using the Cambridge Primary Progression Tests at stages 3, 4, 5, and 6. These tests are updated annually and are marked in school. To assess achievements at the end of the Cambridge Primary Programme, we provide Cambridge Checkpoint Tests. These tests allow you to monitor individual and group performance and compare it to the rest of their class and against an international benchmark. Rest assured that our Cambridge Primary Progression Tests and Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Tests are developed in parallel with the curriculum frameworks, ensuring that our learners are tested on the content and the concepts covered in the classroom.
